Google Gemini and Apple Intelligence: The future of AI

Written by Dennis Galbreath | Nov 7, 2024 2:55:16 PM

Google and Apple, two of the biggest powerhouses in technology, have both recently rolled out their own AI models: Google Gemini and Apple Intelligence. These long-awaited advancements will change the way consumers use their devices and how marketing messages are created. But like the usual debate between these two competitors, brand loyal consumers have strong feelings about who developed the better AI model. This blog will look at the pros and cons of Google Gemini and Apple Intelligence, as well as explore how widespread AI usage can change the marketing landscape.

Subscription Costs

Google has launched Gemini but continues to introduce new features. Apple has not released Apple Intelligence to the public yet as of November 1st, 2024 – but has released its beta to selected users. Gemini has both a free and paid version, with the cost tier offering access to an advanced 1.5 Pro model, the ability to upload documents and spreadsheets, Google One storage and access to using Gemini in apps such as Gmail and Docs. Apple has stated their AI model will be free at launch, but there is strong speculation around a paid Apple Intelligence tier on the horizon.

Compatibility and Accessibility

Gemini is compatible with most modern devices, as long as they are running Android 10 or later and have at least 2 GB of RAM available. Gemini can also be used via the Google app on Apple devices that are running iOS 16 or later. There are some features that will only be accessible on the newest Google Pixel devices and Gemini Nano in the future. Apple Intelligence is only compatible on the iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max and other newest devices produced by Apple. In terms of accessibility, Gemini supports over 40 languages. Apple Intelligence currently only supports U.S. English at the moment with additional languages expected to be added over the course of the next year.

Features

Like other AI models, Gemini and Apple Intelligence are set to change the way users write, research and create. Consumers can use both models to assist with writing, proofreading, idea generation, organization, planning and summarizing, to name a few features. This will not only change how consumers write, but also the way they seek answers using technology.

How AI Changes the Marketing Landscape

AI models make it simple for users to get answers. Instead of spending time conducting their own research with a search engine, consumers can simply ask AI their question and have an answer sourced from the web in a matter of seconds. This changes the way marketing messages are created compared to traditional digital marketing messages. It is believed that Google will begin to allow paid advertisements in Gemini in the future. As AI evolves, so do marketing tactics and practices.
