David Ryder

(senior designer/flash guy)

David moved to Ohio from Virginia, and though he misses his home state, he's proud to call Ohio home (and of course we're proud to have him here as an Ohio web designer). He began his career in the D.C. area working for some of the top companies in the internet industry. He's always enjoyed being a part of branding clients on the web. He thought he was going to be a programmer, but found the design aspect more instinctive, cerebral, and equally rewarding.

David has the slightly annoying habit of always analyzing designs (dinner menus, CD covers, websites, book covers). But that's great for us, because he's got a million designs in his head just waiting to become works of art on the web for our clients.

When not at work, David's life revolves around:

  • God
  • Family
  • Outdoors (fly fishing, bow hunting, canoeing, hiking, camping)
  • Music (playing music with his wife, daughter and friends)
3-4 little known facts:
  • He proposed to his wife on the Appalachian Trail
  • He doesn't watch TV
  • He's been known to spend entire days fly fishing on a river
  • He wanted to be herpetologist, but after snake bite #4 gave up the dream
Where he gained experience:

David is a self-taught designer. When he was considering college, Tom Gardner (CEO/Founder of The Motley Fool) advised against it. His exact words were "Why bother? I have a liberal arts degree that I've never needed". To this day David doesn't know if that was Tom's honest conviction, or somehow linked to the fact that David was inquiring about the Motley Fool's tuition reimbursement program. As for his experience:

  • AOL
  • The Motley Fool
  • USI (Northrop Grumman)
  • Radio Data Group (Infinity Broadcasting - CBS)
  • Carney Interactive
